Staging a winning event is about meeting clearly defined objectives. Running a successful event business is about gathering a team of enthusiastic, open minded, skilled and creative people who are willing to push every limit to not only meet the objectives, but work with clients to exceed them.

As Founder and President of Agenda Managers Inc., with more than 30 years in this business, I have talked more people into doing new and different things than I could have ever dreamed of. Every day, I get to sell an idea, move a mountain to make it happen and convince clients, suppliers and my own team that it is doable. Of course, I count on my specialists here to ensure that every "t" is crossed . . . but that is why we make such a great team.

I wake up every day, excited about what is in store—on the edge of my seat to get to go play at the office. And I was thrilled to have my hard work and enthusiasm earn me a Women of Excellence Award in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the Halifax Progress Club.

My greatest joy comes from family, but coming to work every day is a pretty close second! Giving back to the community is also a passion and I have served as the Past President of the Board of Directors of Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia, done two three‑year terms as a member of the Board of Directors for the Greater Halifax YMCA, and completed a term on the Board of Directors of Destination Halifax. I have also been an active volunteer with the Halifax Hospice Society, Feed Nova Scotia, Laing House, and many other organizations. I am also a volunteer doula.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University and have completed a variety of industry‑specific courses, including those offered by Dalhousie Continuing Education, NSCC, Meeting Professionals International, the American and Canadian Societies of Association Executives, Priority Management, and the Canadian Management Institute.

As Registration and Database Manager at Agenda Managers, I’m the behind‑the‑scenes person making sure registration runs smoothly, special requests don’t get missed, and attendees are gently reminded to pack a jacket. With 20 years of experience in administration and organization—and an inbox that’s more organized than most closets (not mine of course)—I do my best to keep things running calmly, even when things get hectic.

I’ve worked closely with our software developers over the years to build and refine a secure, customized online registration and abstract submission system—one that’s supported countless events and more name badges than I can count. It’s been upgraded, fine‑tuned, and occasionally sweet‑talked into doing exactly what we need to give attendees a smooth and stress‑free registration experience.

At Agenda, I connect with every single attendee, whether it’s through a registration confirmation, a gluten‑free meal request, or a friendly reminder that the conference room will be freezing. And if someone leaves an event with directions to Cape Breton, I consider that a job well done.

Events are exciting whether you’re celebrating, educating, inspiring, recruiting, fundraising, or simply bringing people together. Behind every successful event is thoughtful planning, careful coordination, and a team committed to creating exceptional experiences. I enjoy taking complex projects and turning them into seamless events, ensuring every detail is considered and every guest feels like an important part of the experience.

As a member of the Agenda Managers team for the past several years, I’ve had the opportunity to support a wide variety of events, drawing on my background in guest services, operations, and business administration to help clients bring their vision to life. From the earliest planning stages through on‑site execution, I enjoy collaborating with clients, partners, and colleagues to solve problems, anticipate needs, and deliver events that leave a lasting impression.

I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and my passion for event planning began during my time on Students’ Council in high school. Since then, I’ve continued to build my experience and appreciation for the many moving parts that come together to create memorable events. As a proud Nova Scotian, I value hospitality, strong relationships, and creating welcoming experiences for every attendee.

Outside of work, you’ll often find me on the golf course . . . usually in a sand bunker or searching the woods for my ball . . . or spending time with friends and enjoying everything Nova Scotia has to offer.

From a young age, I was drawn to the energy and excitement of events. One of my favourite weekends every year was when my local skating club hosted a regional competition. I loved helping organize the details with my mom, from preparing skater bags to being at the rink from morning to night running results, queuing music, and even stepping onto the ice to compete. That early exposure sparked a lasting interest in what it takes to bring people together through thoughtful planning.

When I discovered Agenda Managers while searching for an internship, that same spark returned. I hadn’t realized event management could be a career path, but I instantly felt at home. I completed an eight‑month internship with Agenda Managers and knew I’d found the right fit with every day bringing something new, and I love the pace and purpose behind the work.

I recently graduated with distinction from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Management in Public Sector Management and a minor in Economics. During my time at Dalhousie, I was actively involved in the Dalhousie Consulting Association and the Dalhousie Management Society, where I led event planning, built connections between students and professionals, and represented my peers in case competitions.

As the newest event coordinator at Agenda Managers I look forward to working with clients and the team here to support in many ways from event marketing, social media and communications to logistics and strategic support. In my off time you will find me exploring downtown, visiting farmers markets, or sneaking over to PEI.

I am a clean up queen. I really get a charge out of making order out of chaos. I spent my entire childhood rearranging my room and reorganizing my things. I was the first person in my small world to bring in pieces of wood to make shelves in my locker so that I could be better organized. And I was delighted the day I discovered a ten pack of different coloured highlighters at Staples. I make lists – things to do, groceries to buy, books to read, household chores. I make sub‑lists. I even list my errands and then number them geographically so that I can do them all with the least amount of travel. And then cross things off those lists. Strange? Maybe. Satisfying? Absolutely! It’s just how I’m wired.

It’s no surprise I became an accountant. A Dalhousie graduate in Commerce, I earned a CPA designation in 1992 working with Ernst & Young in Halifax. I left E&Y in 1995 to work in industry. During that time, I also started providing accounting services on the side. In 2002, I took the plunge and started working for myself full‑time. Over the last 25 years, I have developed a wonderful group of clients that support me as much as I support them. They allowed me to work flexibly and from home so that I could accommodate all my daughter’s activities throughout her school years.

When asked if I was interested in working with Agenda Managers, I initially said no as it meant working on site. Why would I rock my lovely floating boat! Changing my mind and saying yes has provided hours of fun with a group of amazing women. Best decision ever!

I strongly believe in giving back to my community. Over the years I have been involved with Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Discovery Centre, Girl Guides of Canada, Sacred Heart School of Halifax, Saint Thomas Aquinas Canadian Martyrs Parish, Halifax Transition House Association and Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers.

I also believe in the pursuit of challenge and learning. Reading provides endless opportunities to go down the rabbit hole everyday in search of something new. Riding a horse has brought new meaning to challenge when you are over fifty. Trying to learn Spanish has brought a new appreciation for my aging brain.

I’ve always liked being the person behind the scenes making things come together, whether that meant organizing a group project or just being the friend who somehow ends up planning everything. So, when I landed my internship at Agenda Managers, it felt less like starting a job and more like finally finding the right home for that instinct.

I’m currently finishing my Bachelor of Management at Dalhousie University, majoring in Managing Data and Information, graduating in 2027. As an Event Support Coordinator, I get to wear a lot of hats, analyzing registration data, developing marketing content, and helping keep daily operations running smoothly, and I genuinely love that no two days look quite the same. And as the newest co‑op student, I try to bring unique ideas and a bit of fresh energy wherever I can.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me out on a long drive with friends, taking in whatever beautiful corner of Nova Scotia we can find, or enjoying a game of soccer on the weekend if the weather lets me.

Events are about bringing people together to create meaningful experiences, lasting connections, and memorable moments. I believe successful event management is a combination of careful planning, strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt when challenges arise.

What I enjoy most about events is that no two are ever the same. Each event presents an opportunity to collaborate with clients, understand their vision, and transform ideas into a seamless and engaging experience. Whether it’s a corporate meeting, conference, incentive program, or special event, I find satisfaction in managing the many moving parts that come together to create a successful outcome.

With my background in operations, finance, customer service, and team leadership, I appreciate the balance between strategic planning and execution. To me, great event management is not just about logistics; it’s about creating an experience that exceeds expectations and leaves a lasting positive impression on everyone involved.
